Mother's Day in Dubai arrives three or four times a year

Soft pink and cream Mother's Day bouquet in Dubai

Most cities keep one Mother's Day and plan around a single week. Dubai does not. One tower holds a Filipino family, a British couple, an Emirati household and a Russian grandmother, each with a different date marked.

The Arab world marks it on 21 March, the UAE included. That is the date the city itself runs on, the week the schools and malls around you know something is on.

Everyone else brings their own calendar.

Which Sunday do you mean

We ask which date the sender means before anything else. It sounds pedantic until two brothers order for the same mother eight weeks apart.

  • 21 March — the Arab world and the UAE, fixed every year.
  • A Sunday in March — Mothering Sunday in Britain and Ireland, the fourth Sunday of Lent, so it moves.
  • Second Sunday in May — the United States, Germany, Italy, much of Europe.
  • Last Sunday in November — Russia.

Four peaks across nine months. The March pair sit close enough that the bench looks the same for three weeks. May is the heaviest for us, and the only one inside the Dutch peony season. November is quiet and almost entirely Russian-speaking, and it catches people out, because by then nobody is thinking about mothers.

So settle the date, then book. Early is harmless. A bouquet on the Saturday reads as organised; one on the Monday reads as an afterthought, whatever the card says.

"Ask me for a Mother's Day bouquet and I will ask which month you mean. Everything after that is quick."

What suits a mother

Red is the reflex and usually the wrong one. Fifty-one red roses from a son speak a language nobody asked for. The calmer end works better: soft pink, cream, peach, dusty lilac, white over green. Dutch roses at 60–90 cm in those shades carry the date alone. Add texture instead of a second colour — spray roses, eustoma, a chrysanthemum head, eucalyptus — and it gains depth without raising its voice.

Size is the other reflex worth resisting. A mother is likelier to enjoy something she can lift, place and see from the sofa than an armful she has to wrestle into a bucket.

  • Height — under 70 cm if it goes on a dining table.
  • Scent — light; strong lilies in a closed flat reach the balcony by evening.

Summers run to 40 °C with heavy coastal humidity, so what holds matters more here than the first hour. We pack insulated through the hot months and keep the flowers out of the sun while the courier waits. Chrysanthemums and eustoma from UAE greenhouses last on a warm indoor table longer than most of what we handle, and they turn up in these arrangements unasked.

Ordering across a border

A large share of these orders is paid for from somewhere else. Mother's Day flowers in Dubai are often bought by a son in London, a daughter in Almaty or a husband on rotation, none of whom can knock on the door himself.

Boxed Mother's Day arrangement ready for delivery in Dubai

That changes what we need. Give us a UAE number that belongs to her. Say whether she is home in the morning or at a desk in Business Bay. Say plainly if it is a surprise, because a surprise with nobody behind the door ends in a stairwell. And keep your phone on near the delivery hour, since a locked lobby or a mistyped building number takes seconds to fix by call and far longer by guesswork.

The reverse happens just as often. Someone here ordering for a mother in Moscow, Manchester or Lisbon works to that country's date, months out. Give us the city and the morning you want it in her hands, and we plan backwards instead of scrambling on the day.

"Give me the address, the hour, and one word about her: garden, or no garden. That tells me the bouquet."

We deliver 9 AM to 10 PM in a window of two to four hours. Bouquets start at 250 AED, by card, Apple Pay or cash to the courier. Home addresses in Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah take the early slots. Towers in DIFC and Business Bay want a confirmed slot and a working number, or the flowers sit behind a reception desk until six.

None of this is hard once the date is settled. Tell a manager which Mother's Day you keep and roughly what she likes, and the bouquet takes two minutes to agree. Mother's Day flowers in Dubai are a simple order with one complication, and it is always the calendar.
