Reception desks, staff rooms, the corner of a hall where the light is poor, a landing nobody thought to light properly. Yellow stays visible in dim conditions long after deep shades have gone flat, and in a windowless corridor it is close to the only colour that still registers as a colour rather than as a dark shape near a wall.
That is a placement argument rather than a taste one, and it decides more orders than people expect.
An arrangement in a basket lives where it is put down. Nobody carries it out to a better spot, nobody holds it up to the light, and whatever the room does to the colour is what the recipient looks at for the rest of the week. So the question worth answering at the order is not which yellow but where the bowl will end up standing.

Direct sun is the one placement to avoid, and it is a different failure from the others. Ultraviolet takes the pigment apart, so the colour goes rather than the flower, and the block of foam on a sunny sill dries roughly twice as fast as the same block further into the room. Both of those happen quietly, and by the time anyone notices, topping up no longer helps.

Dutch roses in yellow pale at the petal margin as the bloom opens, so a basket that looked saturated on the first morning is creamier by the middle of its life, and that drift is worth expecting rather than discovering.
