Two baskets from the same workshop, built from the same flowers, are not the same object made larger and smaller. Scale changes what the florist has to do, what the recipient notices and how long the water lasts. That is the part catalogue photographs never show.

Reading scale from a picture
A product shot fills the frame. There is no cup beside the arrangement, no book, no chair back, and the light is arranged so the outline is clean, which means a desk version and a floor version look almost identical on a screen. People order by impression and are surprised at the door.
The stated dimensions are the only reliable part of the listing. Read them, then put a familiar object next to the number in your head: a kettle, a dining chair, the height of a bedside cabinet.

What a florist has to change as the diameter grows
A small basket is judged from above and from close range, so calibration matters more than anything: heads at even heights, no gap showing the foam, stems set at consistent angles. There is nowhere to hide in something the size of two palms.
A large one is judged from across a room. Nobody sees the individual seating, but everyone sees the silhouette, and a silhouette that size needs internal structure to hold it. Greenery goes in first as a frame, heavier material sits low, and the centre has to be supported or the dome sags inward over the first two days.
Density works against the builder as the volume rises. The same number of stems that reads as generous in a small basket disappears in a large one, and filling a large one honestly takes considerably more material than the difference in diameter suggests.

A small block of soaked foam holds a small amount of water and presents a large surface to a warm room, so it dries quickly and needs topping up every morning. A big block carries a reserve and forgives a missed day.
The practical result is counterintuitive. The little basket on a bedside table asks more attention than the substantial one standing by the door, even though it looks like the easier gift.
Choosing between them
Ask where it will stand rather than what the occasion deserves. A shared surface that people eat at wants something low and movable. A hallway, a foyer or the space beside a sofa can take a floor arrangement that stays put for its whole life.
Flower baskets by size also carry different meanings without anyone saying so. A small one reads as personal and close, a large one reads as sent by several people or for something formal, and getting that backwards is more awkward than getting the colour wrong.
