### Light blue roses in Dubai: judging the bunch that turns up Look at the bunch as a group first and stem by stem afterwards. Ten roses that are all faintly different make a soft, natural looking bouquet, while eight matched stems and two obviously darker ones look like a mistake. The second bunch holds more good flowers than the first and reads worse on a table. Then check the newest petals in the centre. They will be paler than the outer ones and often nearly white. Delivery across the city takes 2 to 4 hours, between 9 AM and 10 PM. A bunch that misses the brief is worth flagging on the day it lands. In a large room mass tends to win, and in a small one contrast does. - A DIFC or Business Bay office: cool ceiling light keeps the tone honest, and a small count on a desk needs white beside it to register at all. - A hotel room in Downtown or out on Palm Jumeirah, where warm lamps drag pale blue towards grey and a higher stem count is the answer. - An apartment in Marina or JBR with a panoramic window. Anywhere in that room except the sill. Where the vase stands decides more here than the count does. A cooled apartment holds one steady temperature all day, so the flower behaves predictably and the only real variable left is how much daylight reaches that corner. Two metres away from the glass is worth days to a dyed stem. Climate does the rest of the work, and not in the flower's favour. Summer runs to 40 °C, so the bouquet travels in insulated packing and stays out of direct sun, though indoors the danger is light rather than heat. Sun through glass breaks dye down faster than natural pigment, and a bright sill takes pale blue to grey in two or three days while the petal is still firm. High humidity along the coast has one effect worth naming. A damp pale petal gives up colour to paper and to cloth, which is why misting is the one instruction we repeat on the card.
