### Burgundy roses in Bali: the orders where the exact shade is the job For most gifts the exact shade does not matter. A recipient who never saw the listing has nothing to compare the flowers against, and a deep red bouquet is read as a deep red bouquet. It matters when the flowers have to match something. A dress, a table setting, a company palette, a set of photographs planned around one colour. On this island that usually means a wedding, and burgundy there gets chosen against fabric samples instead of a catalogue page. A film of moisture on the surface reflects, the velvet effect that gives burgundy its depth goes flat, and two arrangements photographed an hour apart can sit a visible step apart in tone. Above 30 °C we pack firm and add a cooling element, and burgundy stays wrapped until it is under a roof. Ceremonies here are often outdoors, which is the harder case. Daylight is honest about the shade, though daylight on a wet petal is not. Checking the match on site is worth the trip on a large order. We take one stem to the venue and hold it against the fabric where the ceremony will actually stand, since a swatch photographed indoors and the same swatch under an open sky are not the same reference. That visit costs an hour and removes the one argument nobody can fix on the day. - A wedding at a Jimbaran venue: swatch first, one batch, one delivery, and the flowers stay in shade until the guests are seated. - A villa dinner in Seminyak or Canggu, where warm wood and lamps deepen the tone and a pale stem beside the roses keeps them readable. - A gift to a hotel room in Nusa Dua. Here the shade genuinely does not matter, and it is the easiest burgundy order we take all week. Company colours behave differently from fabric. A brand red is defined on a screen, no rose reproduces a screen colour exactly, and so the useful conversation is about which direction to miss in. Distance decides the rest. Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur take 90 to 150 minutes, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and the remote villas take 3 to 4 hours, so the far addresses go out in the morning. A dark petal takes more heat than a pale one in the same box, and the long leg and the middle of the day do not belong together. The dry season, roughly April to October, is the easier half of the year for this colour. From November to March we plan the unwrapping indoors and let the flowers dry before anybody arranges them. One point is worth settling in writing rather than on the morning. Burgundy and dark red are two different answers, and the gap between them is precisely what a matched order is paying for.
