The outer ones bend outward into a cup while the centre stays packed, sometimes splitting into several distinct quarters as it comes open. The head grows because of that. A bouquet that looked correct on delivery day is considerably wider by the middle of the week, since each bloom opens much further than a standard long stemmed rose ever does. Stem count is a poor guide to size on this flower. Two bunches built from the same number of stems can finish half a table apart in width, depending on how far along the heads were when they were cut and how much room the florist left between them. Florists allow for it by leaving gaps. So a bunch that arrives looking a little airy between the heads is the build working as intended. Packed tight, the same stems have nowhere to expand into by the third day. The outer petals crease against their neighbours, the gaps close, and what was a bouquet becomes one undifferentiated mass with no light getting into it. A neck that fits the bouquet on the day it arrives will be gripping it by midweek, and a rose forced against glass creases in exactly the place you look at it. #### What the island adds to the timetable Warmth accelerates the whole thing. In humid tropical air above 30 °C the head reaches its full width sooner than the same stems would in a cool room, which makes the spacing question sharper here than in a temperate climate. A tightly packed bunch that would have taken a week to run out of room can do it in a few days. Practical answer: pick the vessel for the open bouquet and put the vase where nothing presses in from the sides. Deliveries run 9 AM to 10 PM. Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur sit in a 90 to 150 minute window, while Uluwatu, Tabanan and villas further out take up to 3 or 4 hours, and the box goes with firm wrapping and a cooling element against its wall when the day is hot and heavy.
